Shannon and I just returned from a 5 day trip to California!
We had an absolute blast and would not even begin to know where to start telling you all about it!
The entire trip was planned around me attending the Jessica Claire’s Photography Workshop on Wednesday! I didn’t make the first class the day before because it sold out to quickly! I was thrilled beyond belief when she decided to open up a second day and I since I was on the waiting list ….. I was offered a seat! It took Shannon and I about two lines of texting to decide to go!
Me: Want to go to LA?
Shannon: Sure!
So off we went!
This is me ready to go in to the workshop! I had been awake since 3:30 am!
I was nervous, anxious, giddy and scared out of my mind! I had no idea what to expect!
The workshop was unbelievable and I can’t wait to show you some of the images that I took that day!! Words can’t not describe it!
As you can tell …. by the end of the day I was not nearly as nervous and meeting Jessica Claire was something I only dreamed of getting to do! Not only is she an exceptional photographer …. she is sweet, smart, funny and one of the kindest people I have ever meet!
An added bonus to my day ….. I got to meet Jessica’s friend Kamee June who is also an awesome photographer, but also one of the most fun, warm and caring person I have ever been blessed with meeting!
Our outfits totally matched!!!!! =]
I hope our paths cross again!! She is the best! Be sure to check out her work!!
Okay … I would have gone home happy after that full day … but more fun was to be had!!!
The next morning we got up at 4:30!! The 3 hour time change messed with our schedules so bad!! We decided to make the most of our two days in LA so off we went!
First stop was the location where The Office is filmed! It was so funny to see the building and the cars the characters drive parked in the parking lot!
We were so hoping for a game of parkour to be happening in the lot, but no such luck! =]
Next stop was Hollywood Blvd! It wasn’t anything like I expected, but at least now I can say I have been there!!
Next stop … the Hollywood sign! That was pretty awesome!
Rodeo Drive!
This was probably one our favorite stops! High Voltage Tattoo! This is where KatVonD films LAink on TLC! It was so cool! It is looks like a normal shop right along the street, but when you go inside it is literally like walking right into the TV set we watch each week at home! I had read on Twitter that Kat was in Vegas for the day so we didn’t expect her to be there …. disappointed regardless, but her brother and the shop manager ‘G’ were at the front counter!
The only pictures of me are ones Shannon took with his iPhone! =] I stole these from him because I thought they were fun!
I was acting silly in front of the store and of course he took the picture … and didn’t delete it! I was having too much fun to care!
A little ‘old’ lady waiting at the bus stop took the one of us together! We thought she did a pretty good job! It is one of my favorites of us!
There were other stops along the way, but our goal was to make it to the Santa Monica pier before sunset … and we did! It was beautiful!
We enjoyed this trip together so much! It was so nice to be able to spend this time away together!
Just us …….
And that wraps up Day 2!! Can you believe we did all that in one day!!!??? =] So fun!
Our 3rd day started with standing in line for The Tonight Show with Conan O’brien standy-by tickets!
After we picked up our stand by tickets we headed over to the Warner Brothers Studio and took a two hour tour.
I really didn’t know what to expect, but it was a lot of fun!
Shannon couldn’t wait to send a tweet that the cast of The Big Bang Theory was on the lot filming this day!! He was excited!
Our tour guide was AWESOME!! He snuck us in to see the Central Perk set from Friends!! We were all so excited!! He even let us sit on the couch and take our picture … if we promised not to tell! =]
We also go to see lots of other things that we were not allowed to photograph. A big highlight was getting to walk across the set of Ellen and the warehouse where they film Chuck!!!!!!!
After our tour we headed back to Universal to see if we were going to be able to go to see Conan!
We got tickets for the show!!!! We were on standby with tickets 14 and 15! They took 1-29 so we felt pretty lucky!!
The show was hilarious and Conan was great! He did take a spill during a skit with Teri Hatcher which caused taping to be cut a little short, but it was so fun to be there and see it taped live! He took a hard lick to the back of his head, but he jumped up and kept making jokes so we felt like he was alright. They came out and said they were taking to the hospital as a precaution. The episode didn’t air that night so we are anxious to see if he mentions anything about what happened on Monday’s show!
After the show we made our way through LA’s oh so fun traffic and headed back to our hotel to get packed for our trip back home! After a very early wake up call and an extremely long journey home we were so glad to have made a safe trip and be back home with our kids!!
