My name is Kellie.

I am a professional wedding, event and portrait photographer located in South Central, Kentucky!

My photo blog began many years ago as a way for friends and family to watch our children grow! My passion for photography also has grown over the years much like my children and I am very proud of my versatility and style.

I believe fun, relaxing and REAL best describes my photography and one of my many goals is to present you with the kind of memories that I would love to hang on my own walls! I want your photos to tell the story of your life!

Thank you for stopping by and your interest in my work and the images I am creating! I look forward to sharing my photography with you!

Overture to Healing

April 27, 2010

As a photographer I have been able to travel and experience many things! No two days are alike!

I really did not know what to expect when I was invited to photograph UK Healthcare’s Overture to Healing event, but it was simply amazing.

The evening was to benefit the University of Kentucky’s Lucille Caudill Little Performing Arts in HealthCare Program. UK Healthcare and the UK School of Music have joined together to establish a musical therapy program and a series of performing arts in conjunction with the new UK Hospital.

The evening began with my first introduction to the Lexington Philharmonic!

Not only did I get to experience The Lexington Philharmonic, I also had the privilege to witness a very energetic and passionate violinist-Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg

After the performance, guests were then directed to Memorial Coliseum for a beautiful dinner!  (Hard to believe this is a basketball gym!)  =]

I was fascinated by all the details!!

Now … going straight from The Lexington Philharmonic to jamming with the ‘Extreme Artists’ was a little shocking, but oh so cool!!!

The owner of this beverage was a little concerned that I wanted to photograph his drink!

Then they broke out an awesome Band!!  The lead singer was declared to be a ‘Brad Pitt’ look a like!!

TGIF …..

April 23, 2010

After having a really busy week and going into yet another busy weekend ……..I am still thankful it is Friday!

Rather than focus on the sleep I may or may not have had, the mess that we call home or lists of things to be done, I choose to be thankful for all that I  have in life to be thankful for.

It would be impossible to list all the things because I feel so blessed with the life I am living, but I cannot post anything about being thankful and not mention my family who makes life so much happier.

My husband ….. he helps me, he encourages me, he believes in me, but most importantly he loves ME.

My children …… they are patient, loving, supportive and always glad to see me!

You each mean the world to me!

Miss Emry is Growing Up

April 20, 2010

As a photographer it is such an an honor when parents  bring their children to me to capture milestones in their life, but when they choose to tell all their friends about my photography and come back for multiple sessions ….. I feel so blessed!!

I first met Miss Emry when she was around 6 months old!  She will forever be known as my Double Cola baby from the shot taken at Dunagan’s Store at Mill Springs!  =]  With a couple more sessions in between this one I still could not believe how much Emry had grown since last fall!

She is now a full time, on the move, busy, happy, exploring toddler!  Did I mention she was busy and on the move??  =]

Mom was tired, Dad was tired, I .. well I was tired too, but not Emry….. she definitely outlasted the three of us!

Isn’t she a doll?

Emry 1

I taught her this new and hilarious trick …..

‘Hey Emry … Can I smell your flower?’

Achoo!!!!!!

Let the giggles begin!

I had so many favorites from this session that I had a difficult time narrowing it down.  I am glad her Mommy has to pick out which one to hang her walls and not me!  =]

I don’t know …… this one really melted my heart!

Thank you so much for all the fun Miss Emry!!  I love watching you grow!

Happy Easter from Our House to Yours

April 19, 2010

blog1

It was almost bed time before we got around to our Easter tradition of dying eggs!

In the words of Jasmine Star …. we are KIR (keeping it real) ….. my kitchen was a disaster!  I was however thankful I found some cute little cups in the pantry with easter eggs on them instead of the Christmas tree cups I found first! =]

We think Miley (bottom left) was either saying a small prayer we would go to bed soon or that we would drop something accidently to eat that would be yummy for her!

Our Easter Morning bed heads …….. and Chocolate of course!

Ashley and Chase are Getting Married!

April 13, 2010

Last fall I had the opportunity to photograph an event that Forcht Bank hosted in Lexington.

John Calipari was the guest speaker and each individual that was invited to attend had the opportunity to get an autographed copy of his book and a photo with the coach by yours truly!

In Kentucky, if you haven’t heard of Coach Cal …… well, where you have been???  =]

At this time he was the most anticipated Kentucky Basketball Coach ready to start his first season at the University of KY.

It was an amazing day that I will never forget!

Fast forward a few weeks later, I received a call from Mr. Woodruff.  He was in attendance at this event and remembered my name as a photographer when his only daughter got engaged to be married!  He was so sweet telling me about Ashley and Chase and you could hear the pride in his voice.

My information was passed on to the mother of the Bride and the Bride-to-be and the rest as they say is history ……I am so honored to be their wedding photographer in October!

Everything about this wedding has been UK centered to this date!  If I remember correctly the day Ashley and Chase and I met for the first time, Chase came along too even though he was missing a UK football game!

This is a committed Groom -to-Be … and he didn’t even complain!  =]

ashley&chase-1

After throwing around some locations for their engagement session, Ashley and Chase wanted to stop at Rupp Arena to have a few photos made out front and in the lobby!

When we arrived downtown traffic was crazy with the buzz of the Sweet 16 going on and I thought to myself that this was never going to work!  Before I knew it,  Ashley was talking to a security guard and our vehicles were being directed to park in the Valet lot… no problem at all!  Chase and I were amazed she was able to maneuver this task, but Ashley simply responded, ‘It doesn’t hurt to ask!’ =]

Little did we know what would happen next ……………………

ashley&chase-3

Yes ….. we were standing center court of Rupp Arena!

I have been to Rupp many times, but never quiet like this!

We were all  a little giddy!

ashley&chase-4

The KHSAA Sweet 16 was in progress this weekend and they were in between games.  When we requested to go through security to take photos in the lobby a very nice lady asked if we would like to go down to center court for photos instead.  We first thought she was just teasing us, but it was not a joke at all!

ashley&chase-5

There really are not a lot of words out there that could easily describe how awesome this was!!!

ashley&chase-7

ashley&chase-9

Even though we could have gone home Happy after this ………Our next stop was Kenneland.

ashley&chase-11

ashley&chase-15

There were so many photos from this session that I loved.  Ashley and Chase were so sweet and in love!  I cannot wait until their wedding!

ashley&chase26

I had just returned from Las Vegas where I did a photo shoot in the desert that was an unbelievable opportunity!

But I couldn’t help but stand on this beautiful Kentucky Horse Farm photographing this adorable couple and not realize that there was no place in the world as beautiful as ‘home’!

ashley&chase-24

This is probably my very favorite ………

ashley&chase-21

Or maybe this one ….

ashley&chase-22

I am so excited for Ashley and Chase and I look forward to seeing their beautiful wedding unfold as they make plans to begin their new life together!
