It seems I have gone MIA for a few weeks from my blog! I promise I am here … just busy…. taking the term ‘burning the candle at both ends’ literally. Not that is a good thing, but it is the truth.
I was rushed this morning…. as usual, and needed to stop by the funeral home for visitation of an elderly lady that once attended our Church. The family was not there to accept any visitors, but I quietly slipped in and slipped out after paying my respects.
When I sat back down in my car I flipped over the page of memory that I had picked up inside and there …. it struck me. The words on the page made me smile in memory of this woman and feel sad that my life of being hurried and busy may not be remembered as such.
I guess there are days we just need this reminder and today …….. was one of mine!
Just a few excerpts …..
‘….. She departed this life and frail body ….. for a far better life for which she was well prepared.’
‘From a young age, and throughout her entire life, she herself worked hard on a daily basis, to meet the needs of her family and friends.’
‘Never given to idleness at any point in her life, she personified the virtuous woman described in the 31st chapter of Proverbs.’
‘…. Remained faithful by all accounts to her husband of near 64 years, who once described her as the most unselfish person he knew. He could safely trust in her to preserve the family honor no matter how long he was called away.’
‘Pious in faith and zealous for the Lord her entire life from her earliest days. Always ready to admonish another with a meek and quiet spirit with both words and deeds.’
‘Her Children call her blessed.’
Thank you Mrs. Rickett for living a life with purpose and example.
I wanted this post to also have a photo and I chose one of of myself with my children ….. two of my many reasons I feel blessed!
