{Kelly and Joseph} Engagements

April 24, 2011

I have known Joseph practically my whole life!

He just happens to be one of the my brother’s best friends!

He joked that the Kelly/Kellie’s were taking over the wedding, but we promised to keep him on track!

Joe is soft spoken and kind.  He is the type of friend that will drop what he is doing to do anything in the world for you!

I knew Kelly was incredibly lucky to have met and fallen in love with Joe, but it did not take very long at all to realize that Joe is pretty much on the ‘lucky’ side too!

Kelly is sweet and adorable!

The two together are perfect!

Our chosen day to meet … of course … it rained!

One would think i should be discouraged at my bad run in weather, but you learn to embrace it and make it happen!!

I adore their sweet expressions looking at each other!

Sweet and Beautiful!

My Favorite ……. <3

They will live in a divided house when it comes to their sports teams!

WKU vs UK

We had a great time playing with this diversity!

I also took a chance to play with some off camera lighting to give these photos a different feel!

Loved the results!

I can hardly wait!!

{Molly and B.J.} Engagement Session

April 22, 2011

I received the sweetest note from Molly’s Mom the other day after I posted her daughter’s engagement photos!

It stated that since it had snowed the first time we met and rained on engagement picture day that we SURELY were deserving a beautiful wedding this coming June!  =]

It made me smile because whatever weather we wake up to on the wedding day… it will not matter one bit!

These two are adorable and so in love!

Despite the omnious clouds and occasional rain drops, Molly and BJ were not phased!

They are in Love and Excited about their upcoming wedding….. and so am I!

We met at Molly’s Grandparents farms which will be the backdrop for their wedding reception!

I loved being invited in to such a sweet family!  Molly’s grandmother even invited me to stay for cobbler!

The farm was picturesque and I loved hearing about Molly’s vision for the reception!

This was one of my favorites!  I loved everything about it!

Love this too ……

Not only are they a gorgeous couple, but they are smart too!!  =]  After the wedding they are off to attend Law school together!  =]

I didn’t get the memo to wear my rain boots!  Aren’t theirs cute?!!

I stayed on the other side of the creek (still managed to almost fall in) and these two braved the waters!

Ashley and Chase are Getting Married!

April 13, 2010

Last fall I had the opportunity to photograph an event that Forcht Bank hosted in Lexington.

John Calipari was the guest speaker and each individual that was invited to attend had the opportunity to get an autographed copy of his book and a photo with the coach by yours truly!

In Kentucky, if you haven’t heard of Coach Cal …… well, where you have been???  =]

At this time he was the most anticipated Kentucky Basketball Coach ready to start his first season at the University of KY.

It was an amazing day that I will never forget!

Fast forward a few weeks later, I received a call from Mr. Woodruff.  He was in attendance at this event and remembered my name as a photographer when his only daughter got engaged to be married!  He was so sweet telling me about Ashley and Chase and you could hear the pride in his voice.

My information was passed on to the mother of the Bride and the Bride-to-be and the rest as they say is history ……I am so honored to be their wedding photographer in October!

Everything about this wedding has been UK centered to this date!  If I remember correctly the day Ashley and Chase and I met for the first time, Chase came along too even though he was missing a UK football game!

This is a committed Groom -to-Be … and he didn’t even complain!  =]

After throwing around some locations for their engagement session, Ashley and Chase wanted to stop at Rupp Arena to have a few photos made out front and in the lobby!

When we arrived downtown traffic was crazy with the buzz of the Sweet 16 going on and I thought to myself that this was never going to work!  Before I knew it,  Ashley was talking to a security guard and our vehicles were being directed to park in the Valet lot… no problem at all!  Chase and I were amazed she was able to maneuver this task, but Ashley simply responded, ‘It doesn’t hurt to ask!’ =]

Little did we know what would happen next ……………………

ashley&chase-3

Yes ….. we were standing center court of Rupp Arena!

I have been to Rupp many times, but never quiet like this!

We were all  a little giddy!

The KHSAA Sweet 16 was in progress this weekend and they were in between games.  When we requested to go through security to take photos in the lobby a very nice lady asked if we would like to go down to center court for photos instead.  We first thought she was just teasing us, but it was not a joke at all!

ashley&chase-5

There really are not a lot of words out there that could easily describe how awesome this was!!!

Even though we could have gone home Happy after this ………Our next stop was Kenneland.

There were so many photos from this session that I loved.  Ashley and Chase were so sweet and in love!  I cannot wait until their wedding!

I had just returned from Las Vegas where I did a photo shoot in the desert that was an unbelievable opportunity!

But I couldn’t help but stand on this beautiful Kentucky Horse Farm photographing this adorable couple and not realize that there was no place in the world as beautiful as ‘home’!

ashley&chase-24

This is probably my very favorite ………

Or maybe this one ….

I am so excited for Ashley and Chase and I look forward to seeing their beautiful wedding unfold as they make plans to begin their new life together!

Kellie from KY meets Victor Sizemore from KY!

March 26, 2010

My second full day  in Vegas was spent in the desert … in the middle of the desert!
It was gorgeous!  Even though I always enjoy the beautiful views of my home state of KY, being able to travel and see different places is always exciting!

This adventure took us about 30 minutes outside of Vegas to a dry lake bottom.  I did wonder about the ‘dry’ lake bottom when I noticed a few puddles …. guess that didn’t help our charter bus from sinking!!!!!  I really thought I would walk back to Vegas, but thankfully our bus driver recovered from the precarious situation he found himself in!

The setting the was arranged for our style shoot was simply breathtaking!

It was so nice to meet Summer Watkins again!  She was the stylist for the Jessica Claire workshop I attended in September!  She is so talented!

One really cool thing about my day happened while a few of the workshop attendees were standing around talking with Victor Sizemore.  He said something with a slight southern accent and I heard it, but it didn’t really register with me.  A girl standing near me asked him if was orginally from the South ….. My mouth hit the floor when he responded he was born and raised in KY!  I couldn’t believe it …. so I moved in closer and asked where in KY.  I really couldn’t believe my ears when he said Clay County … and hour from where I was born and raised!  This was so cool to me on so many levels! =]

I know I have mentioned how cold it was …. but it was really really really cold!  I could barely feel my fingers, but that didn’t stop us from shooting until the very last minute!  Victor literally pulled the chord on the lighting in order to get us to load the bus to head back!  =}

The following people made this possible for all of us:

Make Up & Hair: Jill Guin of Darling Bride: http://www.darlingbride.com

This is my friend and roommate Kari from Salt Lake City! We sat beside each other at the JC workshop and she has become a great friend!  We had a blast together!

I hope you enjoy these images too!

Please leave me a note if you do … I would love to hear from you!  =]

Vegas continued …….

March 26, 2010

When I decided to go to WPPI I noticed a shooting workshop mentioned via Twitter and I thought it would be a great opportunity!
There were 21 other photographers from all over the country that met up on the bridge between the MGM and New York New York.  It was a beautiful day and everyone was anxious to see what the next couple hours would hold!
Our models for the day were Monique & Dustin!  These newlyweds were so sweet and in love!  They were a complete joy to photograph …. gracious, helpful and beautiful!

Stephen Knuth was our  host and the shoot was sponsored by Showit!

These are only a few of my very favorites that I wanted to share!

Enjoy ……
